  • Position and Catchment

The school is situated in the centre of the village, on Landsdowne Road, off Broadway and adjacent to the Shopping Centre, the Library and the Health Centre. The village Recreation Ground is also near the school. Yaxley Infant School is only a short distance away, at the other side of the Recreation Ground.
The School serves Yaxley south of Broadway. The school serves not only the designated catchment area but also pupils from other areas of the Parish of Yaxley and beyond on religious grounds.

    Community Links
As a school we are keen to develop and foster links not only with parents and friends, but with the wider community. We encourage visits from local residents, liaise with local churches and businesses and other schools in the area, to the extent that children are able to benefit from joint ventures. We support local charities through donations and the Harvest Festival Assembly. We also provide a meeting place for local groups, including Parents and Toddlers and St. John’s Cadets.

    Links with other schools
The school has strong links with its main feeder school, Yaxley Infant School. In the last year Year 2 pupils have visited The William de Yaxley School for the Summer Concert and Summer Fair. Year 6 pupils have returned to Yaxley Infant School to assist with their Sports Day. The headteacher of The William de Yaxley School meets regularly with the headteacher of Yaxley Infant School to discuss pupil transfer, continuity and progression. The Chairs, Vice-chairs, Heads and Deputy Heads of both schools also have termly meetings to discuss continuity between the two schools. Teachers also have joint staff meetings to discuss continuity and progression across subjects.
There are also strong links with the two secondary schools; Stanground College and Sawtry Community College, to which the majority of pupils transfer at the age of 11.
Links are maintained throughout the whole academic year but particularly in the Summer Term in order to smooth the children’s path as they continue their education. Pupils visit the secondary schools for a day in the Summer Term.
The school regularly takes part in activities with other schools in its cluster including the local schools’ Sports Day in July, Music Festival and the Year 6 quiz.
