Governors
Our governors are a supportive team who are responsible for the work of the school as a whole.
They serve as governors for a minimum period of four years.
Governors represent the interests of various groups within the local community
for example, parent governors, Cambridgeshire Education authority and local parish councils.
They give their time freely and generously to support the children of this school.
The Governors Online Community is here.

The responsibilities of the Governing Body are laid down by law, and include:
- Setting and monitoring the Schools budget
- Appointing the Headteacher and staff
- Ensuring that the National Curriculum is delivered
- Ensuring that Religious Education is provided
- Ensuring that children with Special Educational Needs are identified and catered for
- Child Protection
- Admissions and Exclusions
- Equal Opportunities
- Staff-disciplinary procedures
- Target-setting
- Establishing and monitoring policies on all aspects of school life
- Reporting to parents on an annual basis.
- Upkeep and maintenance of the school
The aims and values of the school are reflected in its policies and all of these are consistently enforced. Governors are supportive and value the relationship they have with the senior management team.
The Governors represent different aspects of school and village life.
As a Church of England Aided School, the Foundation Governors, i.e. those appointed by St. Peter’s Parochial Church Council or the Diocese, have a majority on the Board of Governors.
There is one parent Governor, one teacher, one member from the support staff, the headteacher, and one by the Local Education Authority.
All of these people have an interest in providing the best possible education for our children, in a safe, pleasant and caring environment.
No individual governor has any power; the power is invested in the Governing Body as a whole.
Apart from Business and Briefing Meetings throughout the year, governors involve themselves in the life of the school as much as their work permits.
The trustees are the inheritors of the responsibilities to ‘educate the children of Yaxley’ as set out by the bequest of Lady Frances Proby in the early eighteenth century. This bequest led to the formation of the original school in Yaxley.
The trustees of this charity are the Foundation Governors of the school (i.e. all those appointed by the Parochial Church Council or the Diocesan Board of Education).
The trustees hold the school site in trust together with a number of investments. In the last year the trustees have made grants from the investment income towards the maintenance of the school, school visits and leavers’ bibles.
