The school is supported by the Church of England through the Diocese of Ely and St. Peter’s Church, Yaxley. Representatives of the Diocese and the Church are members of the Schools’ Governing Body.

Clergy from St. Peter’s Church are regular visitors to the school, to lead or attend Collective Worship and to work and talk with the children in the classrooms. All the children visit the church as part of the Religious Education curriculum. The school arranges its own Christmas Nativity, and holds an Easter Service in the church, The school also contributes to the Harvest Festival in the Autumn Term and actively fosters links with other local Christian churches, as well as those of other faiths wherever possible.

    Worship at our school

An act of Collective Worship by children and staff takes place in school everymorning, between 9.00 and 9.15a.m., except for Fridays when parents and friends are invited to take part in our Celebration Assembly which lasts from 9.00 to 9.30a.m. Thursday morning assemblies are sometimes led by members of the clergy and by other invited people, as well as by the Headteacher and other members of staff.

Parents may exercise their rights under the Education Act to withdraw children from religious worship or Religious Education lessons. Such a request should be made in writing to the Headteacher.

    The school Ethos

Ethos is the climate for learning, attitudes to work, relationships and the commitment to high standards.

As a Church of England Aided School and recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all pupils.
