Our aims
We aim to provide a high quality primary education which is well balanced, broadly based and within a Christian context, which:
Promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, academic and physical development of pupils at the school and within society.
Prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. (Education Reform Act, 1988)
Children should acquire knowledge, develop attitudes and learn skills that will influence their future and make life rewarding for them. Their years at school should be challenging, fulfilling and happy, making them into competent, confident learners, who take pleasure and pride in their learning and achievements. For these aims to be met, important requirements must be that children are:
- provided with the tools of learning; numeracy, literacy and oracy
- able to see learning as being purposeful, challenging and pleasurable
- taught through a wide and practical range of experiences and activities
- provided with opportunities to reflect systematically upon such experiences and activities, rely on their own judgements, grow in independence and develop initiative
- encouraged to ask questions and to seek answers in co-operation with others
- encouraged to show sensitivity, tolerance and respect for the abilities, views and beliefs of others
- given a sense of success through their achievements but are not made frightened to fail
To help to secure these aims we try to provide a caring and stimulating environment within and around the school.
